Research

The O'Boyle Laboratory investigates the fundamental biology of Microbial Interactions and Pathogenesis - How the tiniest creatures living on our planet and in our bodies interact with each other and with us.

Based at The School of Genetics and Microbiology, Trinity College Dublin, our research spans the fields of Microbiology, Metabolism, Genetics, Therapeutic Development, and Host-Pathogen Interactions. Our core values are curiosity, creativity, openness, rigour and the belief that effective research is a community pursuit. This is all underpinned by a love for the wonderful world of microbes. We collaborate widely with researchers, clinicians, data scientists, industry, and public and patient stakeholder groups to ensure our research is innovative, engaged and impactful.
